School Concert in Oxford Centre
St Michael at the North Gate, Cornmarket Street
Thursday 6 June 10.20am
Featuring Marianne Olyver, violin & Miaomiao Yu, pianoBach to School's concerts in 2019 celebrate the 200th birthday of Queen Victoria. As well as being an iconic British monarch, political powerhouse, accomplished musician and mum of nine, Victoria was a trailblazer, early tech adopter and culture vulture.
No need to bow your head, our violinist will bow beautiful tunes instead: hear music by elegant Elgar, sensational Schumann and Her Majesty's favourite, the magnificent Mendelssohn!
|Situated right in the heart of Oxford on the busy shopping street of Cornmarket, St. Michael's was originally built in the Middle Ages. The Saxon tower, which dates from around 1050, is predicted to be the oldest surviving structure in Oxford. It contains Elizabethan silver, a 19th century chiming clock and the prison doors of the Oxford Martyr's!|
