School Concert in Notting Hill
St. John's Church
Monday 17 June 10.20am
Bach to School's concerts in 2019 celebrate the 200th birthday of Queen Victoria. As well as being an iconic British monarch, political powerhouse, accomplished musician and mum of nine, Victoria was a trailblazer, early tech adopter and culture vulture. Step into Victoria's dainty shoes and hear the world as she did through our soundtrack to the Victorian era. This special series will take you inside the palace walls with music from the Queen's favourites, Mendelssohn and Strauss, into the Savoy Theatre of Gilbert and Sullivan fame, and on to the cobbled streets with songs from the Victorian Music Halls.|
Further details of the programme will be announced soon!
|It is hard to imagine that this vibrant, cosmopolitan area was once referred to as the Potteries and Piggeries to highlight the trades of those living in the areas (yes, you guessed it - potters and pig farmers)! Nowadays, the only remaining 19th Century kiln in the area can be found on Walmer Road and there isn't a pig farm in sight, so join us for a Bach to School concert at St. John's Notting Hill, which is the Parish Church for the diverse local community living nearby.|
